I go to try and install Silverlight and my computer not only tells me that I already have Silverlight, but that the Silverlight I have installed is a newer version of the one I'm trying to install. Hello all!

I am new to the Mac and I am questioning every move I make on it. I do not know what to download. I was wanting to watch Netflix but it said I had to download Microsoft Silverlight Plug-In, so I downloaded it, I moved it to my App folder, then pressed Control and clicked on it to open it and I was about to install it (All I had to do was type in my password) and then I searched it up on the internet, and there are mixed reviews. So, I didn't type in my password, I moved it to the trash.
